I think I mentioned before how much fun we have with our gatherings in our neck of the woods. And how many great cooks there are here.
Yesterday there was yet another party, only this time it was a collective birthday party.
Did that make sense?
Look at this cute idea, candles stuck in pieces of pineapple, one for each of the birthday people.
Cause let's face it, we're of an age where if we put all the candles on the cakes, for our respective birthdays and lit them, the fire marshal would declare the house a fire hazard.
There are a few people here who share birthdates, my DH and a good friend share one date, and two of our other friends share another birthdate, one day later. Which if you know us here, is just another excuse for a party.
And a great excuse for me to bake. I tried a new recipe for Kringle, it's the 'famous O & H Bakery' recipe. And I'll tell you all about it in another post later on this week.
However I made my usual Kringle, and also the other one, and along the way called my brother for advice cause he makes the BEST Kringle ever. And I'm quite pleased with that one as well.
All I can say is I had fun. A lot of fun, figuring it all out.
But first...
I want to share the food that was brought with all of you.
From one end of the table...
and from the other end of the table...
Buffalo Wings... I love Buffalo Wings.
Which reminds me, I have a package of wings in the freezer that need to be cooked and eaten.
I think I sense a new post coming...
Crackers and breads... There was a cheese plate somewhere on the table as well.
Vegetarian Taco Pasta... I had to have some.
Deviled Eggs, and these are made with a touch of cumin. I'm going to remember that addition the next time I make Deviled Eggs.
Veggie and Cheese Plate. I do love my veggies.
Mango Salsa. And it had a red jalapeno pepper added to it, and it was HOT!!!!! OMG, good though.
I just stood over the bowl and ladled it into the dipping chips and ate them.
TMI?
A dip that was so good, and I love the dish it was presented in. Sometimes I just want to take pictures of the plates and serving dishes that food is brought on.
Speaking of which,
Pickled Squash, and the bowl is so pretty. The squash was really good too.
Taco Pasta Salad for Carnivores. It had meat in it. And of course I had some of both, the vegetarian one and this one..
Cause, gee, Pasta?
Kathleen brought her pineapple and Santa toothpick holder. It just doesn't feel right without either one of them there when we get together.
Cheese Plate... Always a nice thing to bring. The crackers and bread are in another shot.
Tina made some melt in your mouth, fall of the bones Ribs and they were so tasty. Now I have a craving for ribs, thanks Tina.
What's a gathering without Chips and Salsa?
Empty, forlorn?
Although the chips and that Mango Salsa together were so good.
Last but certainly not least, the two Kringles I brought.
They got eaten.
Every last crumb.
Gotta say, my waistline might not agree, but I do like living here and all the wonderful get togethers we have here.
And Boat Club is tomorrow.
Don't tell anyone but I'm making Jon's family recipe Apple Cake.
