Community Potluck for March

I'm a little on the late side getting this posted, and I sure hope I got all the dishes photographed, but I may have missed some.
We had our monthly potluck this week, we meet the second Monday of every month and share food and conversations and have a great time.

We had a lighter than usual turnout this month, but the food was just as good as it always is.

So here goes.
I made some Deviled Eggs with Chives and some with Smoked Salmon

We also had some celery with Blue Cheese dip, and I was good, I didn't scarf down the whole bowl, I left some for others.
An Asian Coleslaw - I had seconds of it.
This Black Bean Casserole - which I didn't get a taste of. sigh
Sliced Pork Loin in Gravy which was served with rice.
There were also some Noodles and Chicken- and you know I had to try some.
Chicken Tortellini
Apple Salad
Lasagna
Taco Bake- from the Pampered Chef recipe, it was served alongside some toppings- guacamole, Salsa and Sour Cream. (I missed that photo).
And just in case you thought I'd forgotten him, here's Santa with his pineapple.

And we had desserts. I missed one photo on here, it was strawberry cake. sigh
But it was a bit of a chocolaty night.
Cream Cheese brownies
Chocolate cake slices
A nice little Chocolate Bundt cake.

So there you have it, another successful potluck with lots of great food.

Community Potluck for February.

We had an amazing turnout for the Community Potluck this month.
Not only people, but also some awesome food as well.
I'm very grateful for people who step up each month and act as hosts.  It's really not that hard, you just need to make sure everything is set up, wipe it all down again, and most important of all, enjoy.
Harriett Beach was the instigator for the potlucks, and roped me in, but I was happy to be roped.  And I do enjoy it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have some incredible cooks in our area, who also love to share their expertise.
So without further fanfare, and more words, cause I know you really came here to see the pictures of the food that was brought and enjoyed.
As usual there was a lot of variety.   And a lot of food.
Here it is:
Asian Sweet and Sour - there was rice to put it on.  And everyone knows what rice looks like, so no pictures of rice.
I made some Frikadeller - Danish Meat Balls
Sausage in BBQ sauce, also served with rice
Breaded Chicken Bites
Chicken Wings
  Veggie Casserole
Chorizo and Macaroni
Lasagna
 Potato Casserole

Cornbread
Quiche with Veggies
 Coleslaw
Roasted Broccoli
Deviled Eggs
Three Bean Salad
Coleslaw - and I have to say something here, I love seeing the pretty dishes people bring their food in.  So many of us have pretty serving dishes, which only see the light of day, when a special occasion happens.
We also had an incredible variety of delicious desserts:
From this frozen Trifle
Chocolate Pie with fresh raspberries on top.
A Brownie Delight
Another pie, it had a pink filling, and I didn't get a chance to taste it.
Dishpan cookies
Panettone
You knew this was coming, didn't you?  Yup Santa and his Pineapple.
 Carrot Cake
and this is what it looks like after everyone's been through the line at least once.  Not too much is left.
From the other end, the dessert end that is. I did blur out the people on the left, cause this is all about the food people.

That's it for this month,  I actually think I got everything this time, but I may have missed something.  If I did, please forgive me.

Community Potluck for January

I'm still feeling stuffed.
TMI?

We had our Community Potluck this past week and I'm now getting around to telling you about the dishes that were brought and shared.

The Community Potluck has kinda morphed from the old Boat Club potluck, which was an ongoing event, the second Monday of every month.  The hosts of the previous Boat Club potluck stepped down after hosting it for many years.  Then Harriett Beach stepped into the gap and re-instituted it, and we started meeting at the Lanark Boat Club, and it was great.  Harriett passed away last year, but we've kept up the potluck she started up again, now we have different hosts each month. She thought it would be easier to do it that way, and so far it's worked great.  Not one person gets burned out, and we can keep on meeting.
I do want to do a shout out to the Lanark Boat Club, and thank them for letting us use their facility.

I was the host for this month, and we've now got people signed up for the next few months.   This area is amazing I tell you.

There are some incredible cooks here, and they are more than generous in sharing during potluck gatherings.
I mean it, and when we have potlucks here you just never know what people will bring either.  There's always a variety of foods, and it's always good.

So without further ado, cause I know you're tired of reading, I'm going to start with the appetizer or nibbles portion, the pictures that is:
Cheese, crackers and Sausage are always a hit.
.
Fish Dip is a favorite down here.  This was a mullet dip

Chips with all the fixin's - Cheese sauce, Salsa and Pico de Gallo
I did say that fish dips and spreads are big down here. This was a smoked salmon spread

Now we come to the sides:
Pasta salad

Broccoli stuffed Balls- delish
Coleslaw
Potatoes
The entrees:
Upside down Pizza
Turkey, and I didn't get a shot of the gravy which was presented in a little teapot, perfect
Clam chowder
Chicken with fresh broccolini in it
Sausage and sauerkraut
Desserts:
The requisite pineapple, with the Santa toothpick holder

Fruit cake made with orange slices
Pie
Turtle Pie
Chocolate cake made with beets
I brought a Bread pudding to the party with some custard sauce.  I'll share how I made it next week.
I only had a lonely, little spoonful leftover which I hurried up and kept for my breakfast the next day.

So there you have it, another successful potluck, with oodles of great food.

This is one of the best things about living in our area, the great cooks and their generosity in sharing their dishes with us every month.

It's time for me to start thinking about what I want to make next month.  I usually figure it out the day of, but it never hurts to think ahead a little.
