Boat Club for July

We did it again.

Had a wonderful gathering with good people and great food.

It was Boat Club Monday and we celebrated it as such.   And even though we were all coming off of a long weekend, we still made the time to get together and share a wonderful repast.

There were some fun dishes, new stuff to try, and most of it got eaten.    Without further ado or verbiage, here are the dishes.
Boat Club for July
Black Bean Salad is always good.   Which Jill brought, and she can bring it to my place any time.    I think this would be awesome in a fresh flour taco, maybe a little sour cream on top?   But it tastes good with chips as well.

Who doesn't like cheese balls and crackers?  Hmmm, not me.   Very nice.  Always a welcome addition to any gathering.
Boat Club for July
Pimento Cheese Sandwiches.   Now, Pimento Cheese is something I'd never tried before moving to the south, and I'm glad it's now in my life.
Deviled Eggs.   Always, always a winner.   And usually they're gone before I get there, but I managed to snag one this time.   And it was good.
Nancy has a deft hand with eggs.

Corn Pudding.  Another southern dish.   And one I like, a lot.   And maybe one of these days I'll even try making some.  But for now, I'll just enjoy it when someone else brings it.
Coleslaw with the spin only Kathy can do.  This lady is awesome, she always makes a great dish.    I would never have thought of putting tomatoes in coleslaw, but it works, really well.
I wish the picture did this justice.   Poblano Rice.   Leon always makes such fun stuff.   So good, (I took some home for breakfast this morning).   The slight spice of the Poblano, the sweetness of the onion and corn.  Yummy.   Guess who'll be making this in the future.
Another dish that was new to me.   Chicken Pancit.   I had to go and google recipes for this.  I am so going to make this for myself.   And once I have it perfected, I might even share.  Oh come on, you know I will, share the how to's at the very least.

I made some Sticky Wings, and I'll be sharing my journey later one.  I just want to say, I'm getting close on this recipe.
BBQ ribs, I did not get a chance to taste these, but I was told they were really good.
Salmon Croquettes.   Whew, and to think I almost made Salmon Loaf to bring this month,  but I was fixated on getting the wings done.    The croquettes were really good, it's been a long time since I've had them.
Thanks Pat.
Brenda brought this Broccoli Dip, and it was really good.  She usually makes spicy stuff, but she can bring this dish anytime and I'll gladly eat it.

Fruit Salad.   I noticed that most of it got eaten, and I can see why.   Really lovely and fresh.   Harriet always has an interesting twist, and brings fun stuff as well.
I mean, look at all that fruit, what's not to love.

Can't get away without mentioning the desserts.   Of which there was plenty to choose from.   And it was all good.

There was this Strawberry Tart, which I did get a taste of.   There is just something about custard and strawberries, I don't know why but they just seem like they go together so well.
Angel food cake and some totally awesome Orange sauce to ladle over top.   I would never have thought of this and am so glad Roberta did and brought it.   See what I mean, I get ideas all over the place.
Tropical Fruit crumble.   Kathy made it and gee, it was so good.   I was just going to have a taste, but ended up eating the whole piece.
And you can never, ever go wrong with chocolate.  This loaf was decimated.  In other words, real popular.

    1. Deviled eggs are the best, aren't they? Just looking at the pictures are making me hungry as well, I think I need to go make something to eat, now.
