Home made Gorp or Trail food

Did you know you can make your own Gorp?
You can.
Really...
I have no idea why I thought you had to buy this stuff.
Home made Gorp or Trail Food
I had opened my mouth and committed us to a hike and was told to bring a snack and some water along.
So no problem on the water, I have my gasp, dismay, bottled water handy to take along. I even have a little backpack I can use , but I just didn't feel like heading into town to pick up snacks, and that's when I spotted the golden raisins sitting on the counter and got an idea.  So I went into the pantry and spotted some peanuts and then I found some chocolate chips, milk and semi-sweet both and added some sunflower seeds and I had it, Gorp or trail food if you like.

Recipe:  Trail Food
1 cup raisins
1 cup lightly salted roasted peanuts (you can use any kind of nuts here)
1 cup mixed milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cups sunflower seeds
Mix together, place in a bag and go hiking.
Or just keep them around for a quick snack or after school treat or put into a lunch sack and take to work.

And the hike, we saw lots of flowers, a couple of snakes, bear scat and lots of beauty.

The Gorp was shared and appreciated, and made a nice snack in the wilderness.
